Single-Ply Membrane

This roofing system is created from a single layer of material: EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer), PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride), or TPO (Thermoplastic Polyoefin)

TPO Roofing System

Single-ply reinforced membrane is a tried-and-true roofing option for commercial, industrial, and manufacturing facilities. Single-ply Membranes are sheets of rubber or other synthetics ballasted, mechanically fastened, or chemically adhered to insulation creating a layer of protection on the commercial building. Single-ply Membrane roofing is one of the most well-known types of commercial roofing systems. There are a wide range of TPO systems to fit your budget and facility needs.

PVC Roofing System

Single-ply reinforced membrane, highly resistant to most chemicals and ultraviolet lights, is puncture and tear resistant and offers excellent strength.

EPDM

Single-ply membrane with great performance in areas with mild to extreme cold conditions, featuring excellent flexibility and resistance to hail.

Pros:

Single-Ply roofs are flexible, easy to install, and will usually last between 20-30 years (dependent on weather, surrounding conditions, and quality of installation).

Cons:

Being constructed from only one ply leaves the roof more vulnerable to punctures and damage.

Built-Up Roof Systems

Commonly referred to as tar and gravel roofs. These systems are created by alternating layers of bitumen and felts directly onto the roof to create a finished membrane.

The owner can choose the number of layers (or plies) that are installed. The final layer of built-up roofing system consists of stone or gravel. The built-up roofing system has excellent strength and high ultraviolet protection.

Pros:

A built-up roof is fire resistant, more cost-efficient, and will last 10 plus years.

Cons:

As the roof is created by layering the product on top of one another, the built-up system is less neat than other systems. The products omit a strong odor.

Metal Roofing

Metal Roofing is one of the oldest commercial roofing systems and has become more popular over time. Most metal roofing systems use corrugated galvanized steel, although aluminum or tin can be used as well.

Since metal roofing material is quite lightweight, it can be installed right on top of the existing roof. After installation, a coating can be added for waterproofing, rust protection, and UV protection.

The metal roofing system looks good, is environmentally friendly, and its lifespan far outlasts that of asphalt shingles.

Pros:

Lightweight, durable, and can last up to 20 years (depending on roof slope, weather conditions, and installation).

Cons:

Metal roofing is one of the more expensive options on the market.

Shingle Roofing

Shingle roofing is most commonly used for residential roofing, but also in steep slope commercial roofing applications. Shingles can be made out of a few different materials, including wood, slate, metal, plastic, ceramic and composite material such as asphalt. There are two main types of shingles: Asphalt and Architectural. Shingle roofing is very economical and offers a wide range of architectural design options on steep slope roofing projects.

Asphalt Shingles

The most common, cost-effective shingle on the market used for applications. These roof systems often come with 15 – 30-year warranties on average.

Architectural Shingles

Multi-layered and heavier to add durability and weatherproofing to the building. Often comes with “lifetime” warranties.
